"1) After reading your article about Mopar cars
made by various companies I noticed you stated that MAISTO has a new casting
of the HEMI CUDA. I do not have one yet either, but have seen that new
casting in the Maisto "Road and Track" 25 car special edition
assortment(= Wal-mart exclusive). The car is Hemi orange with a black hood
scoop. The price is great too, I beleive it was $10.96 (or $9.88, but it
was not more than $11.00) for the 25 car set--making each car only .44 cents!!
Other great new castings in the assortment too.
2) Where on-line can I find reference lists of all cars produced by the
"other" manufacturers? Companies like Playart, Tomica, Majorette
and Zee/Zylmex. I would like to find lists that included not only the reference
numbers and the dates of production but also offereings in colors/interiors/wheels/paint
schemes etc...
3) thank you sooo much!!"
Charlene Kamsch, Pasadena, Maryland
Editor's response: Charlene is right about the new Maisto models.
I bought the set myself.
"Incredible work you've done here -- a real passion.
I have a question. I'd like to start collecting a current line of 'Matchbox-sized'
cars -- I'm looking for the best toy car manufacturer. It would be a huge
help (although not imperative) if the cars were available online.
Thank you -- and again, great work."
Matt Lindley, Massachusetts
Editor's response: In 1:64 scale, there are many great manufacturers
and I recommended a list for Matt.
"Dear Doug,
News from France: it looks like Solido finally woke up Majorette. Around
fifty new models are proposed. Some of them are on sale yet. Many of them
are new cars (Renault Kangoo, VW Golf IV, Porsche 996), but Majorette seems
to think about the american market. It annouces a 57 T'Bird and a '56 Corvette.
More informations are available on www.majorette.com."
FrÈdÈric LAURENT, La Roche sur Yon, France
Editor's response: Frederic is a regular reader and his updates on
French diecast are appreciated. Majorette does have many new castings. Finding
them in ther US is another matter. It seems that the US market is a problem
for Majorette.
"I really love the diecast model car. This is the first time I visit
your web site. I got more knowledge about diecast car that I've never known
from other. Now I begin to collect them. In Thailand most of them made in
Hong Kong, China and also Thailand. I think I will correct 1:43 SOLIDO (made
in France) " Do you have some comment for me"
Sataporn Thongma, Bangkok, Thailand
Editor's response: There is a growing collector market in Asia and
of course most diecast are manufactured there.
