Skunk Works III - Pony Time
by Doug Breithaupt

In the March 1999 issue we reviewed twin-striped Vipers, for April, it's pony time. Ford's Mustang is well known for wearing the twin racing stripes. Most of the Mustangs with twin stripes are from the early years of the breed. Only the second generation Cobra of 1977 moves beyond the cars of the '60's. Most of the Mustangs are also Shelby models. Shelby's Cobra racing and street cars often used the twin stripes and this theme seems to have carried over to the Shelby Mustangs. Here they are:

..
'66 Shelby Mustang by Johnny Lightning - '67 Shelby Mustang by Johnny Lightning - '65 Shelby Mustang by Matchbox
..
'76 Mustang Cobra by Johnny Lightning - '67 Mustang "Boss Hoss" by Hot Wheels - '67 Shelby Mustang Stocker by Hot Wheels
..
'67 Shelby Mustang by Johnny Lightning - '67 Mustang Stocker by Hot Wheels - '68 Mustang Cobra by Racing Champions

Most of these diecast models should be well-known to readers. If you know of others, help me out if you can, via the Guest book.
